6 x NV Champagne Moussé Fils Les Vignes de Mon Village Blanc de Meuniers (750ml), Provenance: Restaurant Mosaic Wine Cellar Collection
A grower since 1750, Champagne Moussé sits in the village of Cuisles, in a valley perpendicular to the Vallée de la Marne. This side valley has a unique soil in Champagne: a schist subsoil under clay. While Pinot Meunier often struggles to be taken seriously in Champagne, at Moussé, Pinot Meunier is celebrated. 80% of the vines planted are Meunier, with the balance planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
This blend of the finest vintages is made of 100% Pinot Meunier, only from Cuisles. It has the particularity to be bottled and aged with a cork. Before they created this Brut Nature non-vintage Champagne, their vintage cuvée Special Club was the only 100% Pinot Meunier champagne in their range. The idea behind Les Vignes de Mon Village was to create an outstanding Champagne, aged in bottles sealed with cork, that would still appeal to everyone. It is also a tribute to Jean Marc Moussé, Cedric’s father, who has been mayor of Cuisles for 25 years and who adored Pinot Meunier.
"The NV Brut Nature Les Vignes de Mon Village is a powerful, distinctive wine that shows the essence of Meunier in the Brut Nature style. Pear, chamomile and dried flowers all flesh out in an intense, vinous Champagne that only blossoms with a few hours of aeration. The Vignes de Mon Village is certainly an intriguing wine, but the decision to bottle with no dosage yields a decidedly start, at times austere, Champagne." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media 91/100
