Nsika Mhlongo, a contemporary South African artist born in 1998 in Richards Bay, explores the themes of violence and its impact on the female body, often drawing from her own life experiences. She completed her BA in Visual Arts at the Centre for Visual Arts, University of Kwazulu Natal, in 2020. After four years of teaching English, her artistic path was significantly influenced by her mentor, Thokozani Mthiyane. Through Mthiyane, Mhlongo connected with notable artists like Dominic Tshabangu, Ayana V. Jackson and Kagiso Patrick Mautloa. She also briefly worked under the supervision of Senzeni Marasela at the Still Art Residency in Ellis House and collaborated with Thami Jali at Linbro Park Studios, where she led workshops for children.
