Quinta do Vallado Reserva Field Blend 2012 x6 750ml bottle(s)
Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest and most famous “Quintas” in the Douro region. This eighteenth-century Douro wine estate is actually one of the most modern-looking in Portugal. The winery lies on both banks of the Corgo River, a tributary of the Douro River, close to the town of Peso da Régua. The grapes were vinified in the new winery in temperature controlled stainless steel vats, each holding a maximum of 4 tons of grapes, with manual remontage. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in their original storage stainless steel tanks and was then racked into 225l French oak barriques where it stayed for 16 months.
"In the old times, a Douro vineyard held a muddle of any number of different local grapes. This wine, from 80-year-old vines, is a tribute to the old style of vineyard planting. It's firm, very concentrated and dark, with stunning tannins and rich fruit. The black plum-skin texture, superripe fruit, chocolate and final acidity are all developing slowly and impressively. Drink from 2018." 95/100 Wine Enthusiast
