PLEASE NOTE THIS WINE IS IN JOHANNESBURG
The Mosel is Germany’s most prestigious wine region and it is comprised of the vineyards surrounding the Mosel River and its tributaries, the Saar and Ruwer. This region is the northernmost of Germany’s primary viticultural areas, located on the western edge of Germany just above the northeast corner of France. Internationally Mosel Rieslings are considered among the finest white wines in the world.

Dr. Loosen is a wine producer based just outside Bernkastel in the Mosel region of Germany. Headed by wine personality Ernst "Ernie" Loosen, the company is easily one of Germany's most famous Riesling producers, and has won numerous awards for numerous wines from the portfolio. Wehlener Sonnenuhr translates to The Sundial of Wehlen. It is a precipitously steep and rocky vineyard which yields some of the most elegant and sophisticated white wines in the world. It has very thin soil and the purest blue slate of any Mosel vineyard. This gives a lively minerality to the wine, along with a delicate and crisp acidity that perfectly balances the bright white peach and lemon fruit. It’s an aristocratic and charming wine that dances gracefully on the palate.

"Honeysuckle and heliotrope, pear and white peach subtly glazed with honey; and mingled with nougat comprise the seductive aromatics and creamy yet juicy palate of Loosen’s 2010 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spatlese. Lush yet delicate; confectionary and noticeably ennobled to the point of slight caramelization yet infectiously juicy, this even calls forth a mouthwatering hint of salinity and a cantus firmus of wet slate to perfectly set off the sensual splendors of its finish. It is to me stylistically more an Auslese – albeit a delicate one – but that isn’t to take anything away from its performance, which should remain ravishing over at least the next two decades." - Robert Parker
