In his book Cape Silver and Silversmiths, Stephan Welz writes in the paragraph regarding candlesticks: 'The only extant Cape examples are the pair made by Daniel Heinrich Schmidt in collaboration with an unknown maker, F.W.M., and now in the Cultural History Museum in Cape Town'. This pair provides an opportunity for a private collector to acquire a rare piece of Cape history.
