Brampton was originally the second label for Rustenberg as they sought to differentiate estate grown fruit from grapes bought-in, the brand was sold to DGB in 2010. Some outstanding wines were produced garnering the attention of top wine critics.

Little was written about these gems but according to the 2006 John Platter South African Wine Guide, this is "a drier style from a mélange of Portuguese varieties evoking images of smoking jackets (both cigar leaf and paisley)", which certainly paints quite a picture.
