x 3 bottles 750ml
PLEASE NOTE THIS WINE IS IN JOHANNESBURG
Since 1670, the Feraud family's ancestors have continuously cultivated a few plots of vines, producing the famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Although the oldest wine-making evidence dates from 1733, it was not until 1987 that Domaine du Pegau was created. It is located in the Courthézon area east of Châteauneuf du Pape known as the Crau. Paul Feraud and his daughter, Laurence Feraud, oversee 47 hectares of vineyards, of which 20 hectares are used for their Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge.
Roughly 80% Grenache, 6% Syrah, 4% Mourvèdre, 10 percent other indigenous grape varieties. Whole grape bunches were lightly crushed and fermented with wild yeasts for 5-7 days in traditional cement vats. This was followed by a further maceration period of 7-14 days, with1-2 pump-overs per day. The press and free run juice was aged in 5,000 liter oak foudres for 18 months, and then blended and bottled without filtration.
"Savory notes of bramble, smoke and leather juxtapose forward plum, cherry and strawberry in this full-bodied wine. It's a penetrating, mouthfilling sip that lingers on the palate, finishing on soft, furry tannins. Approachable already, this concentrated wine should improve through 2025 and hold further." - Wine Enthusiast 96/100
