More Information

PLEASE NOTE THIS WINE IS IN JOHANNESBURG
Henri Bourgeois is a leading Loire Valley producer based in the village of Chavignol in Sancerre and best known for its extensive range of regional wines, predominantly made from Sauvignon Blanc. The wider portfolio covers red, white and rosé wines from Sancerre, and also includes a pair of Pouilly-Fumé wines.

The estate was established in the 1960s with a few hectares in Chavignol. With his sons Rémi and Jean-Marie, the eponymous Henri Bourgeois extended this estate over numerous neighboring villages. In the 1980s a modern, eco-friendly cellar was constructed, later modernized into a gravity-fed facility.

Henri Bourgeois also owns and runs Clos Henri, an organically-farmed estate in Marlborough, New Zealand.

Made from a strict selection of the best Sauvignon grapes, La Demoiselle is harvested on the Kimmeridgian marls of Saint- Laurent l'Abbaye, where the first vines of this AOC were planted. 90% of the wine is fermented in stainless steel vats at 15 to 18°C with the remaining 10% fermented in oak barrels from the Tronçais forest. Maturation takes place on fine lees for 7 to 8 months.

"Ahhh, wouldn't you like a Pouilly Fume just about now? The youthful 2012 Henri Bourgeois Pouilly-Fume La Demoiselle de Bourgeois is simply very fine. A beautifully sauteed white fish in a cream sauce and a glass of this would be put a delightful spin on your world and should you just how awesome a great sauvignon blanc can be. The wine's citrus, chalk and layered palate are something special. For those who would like this wine to age a bit in the cellar, I'd recommend serving a seafood in a white wine reduction sauce. Give this one a whirl, you will be glad you did." - Wilfred Wong of Wine.com 92/100
