Dutch 18th century bombé bureau, circa 1775, with a bombé front, original set of 18th century brass escutcheons on this desk, escutcheons depict Venetian theatre masks, the handles of the drawers are decorated with Louis the 16th classical urns and bunches of grapes, with " oeuvre livre" effect mirrored wood grain of the veneers on the drawers, the borders of the drawers are cross banded with a darker type of mahogany, interior has nine small drawers of which one is hidden behind a small door embellished with a marquetry of rose and lemon wood and dark stained oak, this small door is flanked by a pair of marquetry columns with brass Corinthian tops which conceal two secret compartments, the drawers have original brass escutcheons, the curved sides of the desk are decorated with brass strips with a sun symbol on the top and base, recently French polished.
