2015 Mary Delany Botanica Chenin Blanc (750ml) x 6 bottles - Provenance: Restaurant Mosaic Wine Cellar Collection
Botanica Wines was founded in 2009 by owner and self-taught winemaker Ginny Povall, an intrepid American who fell in love with the beautiful Cape winelands, purchased Protea Heights farm in Stellenbosch’s Devon Valley and relocated to the southern tip of Africa in 2008. The grapes for this wine come from a vineyard high in the mountains of Clanwilliam, 25 miles from the sea at 1600ft elevation. Dry farmed, as there is no longer any water available, these 50 +/- year old vines produce a mere 2.5 tons per hectare. With its beautiful label of a botanical collage created by artist Mary Delany in the late 1700’s (Ginny was fortunate enough to obtain a license to use a few of Delany’s collages for her wines). "One of those wines that first intrigues you, then delights you. Swirling aromas of ripe peach, blanched nuts, roasted herbs and spring flowers on the nose. Lovely juicy, spicy, rich mouthfeel, utterly convincing. Enjoy a glass of this with belly pork." by Peter Richards MW and 93 points from Decanter Magazine.
