In two parts, the moulded gabled pediment with a pierced and foliate-carved keyblock, a pair of cottage-pane glazed doors below enclosing five shelves, curved canted corners, the lower section comprising a pair of paneled doors enclosing a shelf, conforming corners, on flat bun feet

PROVENANCE

Originally built in as a wall cupboard in the manor house on the farm L' Arc De 'Orleans in 1777, the cupboard was removed from the wall in 1927 when owned by the Malan family. The farm is in the Wemmershoek area between Paarl and Franschhoek.
The first owner, Pierre Rousseau was one of the first French Huguenots to arrive in the country in 1688. He acquired the land in 1694 and hailed from the province of Orleanais in France, hence the name of the farm.
