2018 Miles Mossop Chapter Two Chenin Blanc (750ml) x 6 bottles - Provenance: Restaurant Mosaic Wine Cellar Collection
Until May 2018, Miles Mossop’s day job was as winemaker at Tokara, a position he had held since the winery started-up in 2000. The agreement Miles had with GT Ferreira, the owner of Tokara, allowed him to vinify 10 tonnes of bought in grapes and put them under his own label each year. Now completely independent and now making wines in two different locations in Stellenbosch, Miles is starting to extend both production and the range he produces. This is a 100% Chenin blanc from a single 48-year-old bush vine vineyard in the Paardeberg, Swartland. The grapes are pressed as whole bunches and the juice settled before transferring into 400lt old French oak barrels for fermentation. After natural fermentation the wines is matured on the lees for about 10 months. The result is a wine packed with stonefruit and spice aromas and a touch of savouriness. It has a full rounded mouthfeel with a creamy, yet grippy finish. We love the fruit expression and clarity of this wine, which is a great expression of Swartland Chenin Blanc. Tim Atkin, MW 93/100
