Quinta do Vallado Sousao Douro 2012 x6 - 750ml bottle(s)
For almost 200 years, Quinta do Vallado´s main activity was the production of Port wines that were commercialized by the Ferreira Port House. Moving from the centuries-old tradition of selling the farm´s production to the Ferreira Port Wine House, in 1993 the company decided to extend the business towards the production, bottling and marketing of own-label wines.
Known for its ability to produce deeply colored wine, Sousão has made a wine with a rough-edged character, which gives it a firm, solid and chunky feel. Foot trodden in the traditional lagares for 6 days. Malolactic fermentation and ageing in 100% new French oak for 20 months.
"Normally used to provide dark color to blended wines, Sousão rarely appears outside its home in Vinho Verde. This example from Vallado, almost black in color, shows the high acidity of the grape. It also shows an unexpectedly richly tannic character that gives structure and releases black plum flavors." - 90/100, Wine Enthusiast
