Mathew Berge worked between 1800 and his death in 1819 at 199 Piccadilly. Berge succeeded Jesse Ramsden, “a maker of international repute” in 1800 and continued in his workshop at the same address. Both makers typically employed a very restrained signature in the same style as on this instrument.
