2010 Beaumont Hope Marguerite (750ml) x 2 bottles - Provenance: Restaurant Mosaic Wine Cellar Collection
Beaumont began when Jayne and her late husband, Raoul, liberated themselves from the co-operative system in 1994 and refurbished the old farm at Compagnes Drift, an outpost for the Dutch East India Company in the 18th Century. Today, the cellar is under the tenure of their son, Sebastian. Hope Marguerite (named after winemaker Sebastian’s grandmother) is considered the estate’s flagship white wine; first released in 1996 it continues to be adorned with Platter stars! The Beaumont family were among the first to harness the potential of wine grapes in the picturesque Bot River district and with Sebastian Beaumont at the helm their reputation is established as a fine wine producer, spearheaded by the consistently superb reserve Chenin from the oldest vineyard blocks on the farm (planted 1974 & 1978). The 2010 harvest produced exceptional flavour and concentration due to abnormally low yields. Only 20 barrels were made and fermentation took place in 400 liter French oak. Platter Guide 5*
