More Information

PLEASE NOTE THIS WINE IS IN JOHANNESBURG
The award winning Frapin XO Château de Fontpinot Grande Champagne Cognac is a prime example of why Frapin has seen so much success, an XO that has been harvested, distilled, aged and bottled on the 300 hectares of the Frapin estate, making it a unique single estate Réserve where every step of the creative process is controlled on site. This XO Cognac was aged in wooden casks for a long time. The brand is allowed to use the appellation of Chateau because the harvesting, distilling, ageing and bottling process takes place at the Chateau.

This XO Cognac from Frapin is made from ugni blanc grapes that are grown, distilled, aged and bottled at Cha?teau Fontpinot, a 240 hectare single family estate established in 1270 and located in the region’s Grande Champagne cru. Distilled over lees and aged in Limousin oak barrels between 15 and 20 years before blending. Bottled at 41%.

"The nose is aromatic, elegant and offers a beautiful finesse of the grain, a fine intensity, power (full of control) as well as finesse. It reveals notes of dry yellow grape, dry zests, dry orange, small notes of dry lemon associated with fine touches of cedrat, candied peach, dry apple as well as a subtle hint of cedar, lychee, dry oak, vanilla, spices and a very discreet hint of pepper (in the background). The palate is fruity, juicy, well-balanced, gourmand, finely suave and offers elegance, power, a fine acid frame, a fine tension as well as a beautiful grain. On the palate this Cognac expresses notes of candied lemon, caramelized cedrat, small notes of dry citrus, crystallized mandarine associated with small notes of candied peach, caramel peach as well as small hints of dry yellow raisin, caramelization, pâtisserie, dry tobacco, a very discreet hint of chocolate, cigar, an imperceptible hint of grilled oak and pepper. Good length. Good persistence. Small/fine power and suavity on the finish/aftertaste." - 94 - 95/100, VertdeVin
