2010 Haskell Pillars Syrah x 6 bottles 750ml
PLEASE NOTE THIS WINE IS IN JOHANNESBURG
The first wines produced under the Haskell label came from the stellar 2007 vintage, albeit in small quantities. Since this time Haskell Vineyards have been awarded the prestigious 5-star accolade by John Platter, South Africa’s most significant wine publication. It was also chosen as the first ever South African winery, since the inception of the Tri-Nations Challenge, to win Best Syrah, Best Red Wine and Best Wine of the Show in the 2009 competition, where the finest South African wines are pitched against the best Australia and New Zealand have to offer.
Haskell Vineyards graces the slopes of the Helderberg mountain range in Stellenbosch, an area known as the “Golden Triangle”, widely recognized as one of South Africa’s finest wine-growing sub-regions and home to many of South Africa’s top wines.
In 2002, American/Russian property tycoon Preston Haskell IV purchased the farm Dombeya (originally part of neighbouring Rust & Vrede) and renamed it Haskell Vineyards. Shortly thereafter, Rianie Strydom joined Haskell as Winemaker and GM, and soon became the first woman to be offered membership of the Cape Winemakers Guild.
